http://andy77.com. My New Weblog

Some of you may already notice I have setup a new site - http://andy77.com. Yea, it's my new weblogs site, definitely, my own website.

Why? I want to have a site that I have totally control over it. Uha, it's really interesting to have an own domain name and have an own host. You can do whatever you want to setup the site, and you can change even modify any lines of the code as you want.  (But of course, you do not need to write a blog engine from scratch) I choose the most popular blog engine - WordPress and one of most popular templates - K2. It's COOL! :-D

Please change the URL as:
http://andy77.com

And RSS:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/andychang

By the way, below is my Flickr stream:
http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=69305937@N00&format=rss_200

Enjoy it! :-P

Great News 2! ~~~~~

Photo Published

Hey guys! It's the time say congratulations to me for the second time!! :-P One of my photos that took at the BarCampShanghai last week was published on 2006.10.02 issue of 21st Century Business Herald (二十一世纪经济报道). Since it was asked by the pretty reporter - 小玻 - of the newspaper, I provided the photo for free. But next time, it'll be charged! :P

Oh. I haven't got time to write something about the BarCamp event. It's a very cool meeting! The most interesting thing of it is it's call "un-conference", which means that there is there is so-called organizer actully, and eveyone is encouraged to lead a session and to be participated. Simply, it's OPEN.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

This is the first time BarCamp intruduced into China. It gathered around 50 (actually 80 registered) geeks. The topics covered Web 2.0, international business (China and west), web design, art, open source, agile development, and etc. Of course, we got a session on photography. The pity is I am the one Nikon :-S. (damn, it should be more Nikons...). By the way, thanks the T-shirt of ShellShadow.

Great News! ~~~~~

I'm so exciting that I got two messages from Ali Moss who is a Managing Editor of Schmap. She asked to add my photos that taken at Dallas and Fort Worth to the mid-October 2006 issue. The Schmap Guides provides "dynamic maps, useful links, playable tours, top picks, plus photos and reviews for hundreds of sights and attractions, hotels, restaurants, bars, parks, theaters, galleries, museums... ". It's really cool! Isn't it? :P Even I have heard of this company before, this is the first time someone recognizes my photos formally! What a wonderful world!!~~~ :-D

Here comes one of the two letters:

BarCampShanghai - Sep. 24, 2006

BarCamp: What's this all about?

COMMUNITY AND INFORMATION

BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers.
When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

NO SPECTATORS, ONLY PARTICIPANTS

Attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one, or otherwise volunteer / contribute in some way to support the event. All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall. The people present at the event will select the demos or presentations they want to see.

Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present.

The Coming Of Wisdom With Time

The Coming Of Wisdom With Time
William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

Though leaves are many, the root is one;
Through all the lying days of my youth
I swayed my leaves and flowers in the sun;
Now I may wither into the truth.

随时间而来的真理
叶芝 (1865-1939)
沈睿 译

虽然枝条很多,根却只有一条;
穿过我青春的所有说谎的日子
我在阳光下抖掉我的枝叶和花朵;
现在我可以枯萎而进入真理。

Images of Beijing

I got a chance to travel in Beijing for several days. Beijing has the different style compare to Shanghai. It's the capital of China and it's a north China city. As a capital, it's really bigger than Shanghai (6340 vs 16808 sq.km).

My Trip of Yun Nan

It's a fantastic trip in Yun Nan. From Li Jiang (Shu He) to Shangri-La, and then to Kun Min. The most impressive place is Shangri-La, which is a place in dream. We call it 'Xanadu'.

Perspective

When I was a child (tens), I have learned painting for a while. One thing I still remember, one day, we learned charcoal drawing of still-life. All of classmates are followed the teacher's instructions on the board. Since I sat at one side of the classroom, I can only see one side of the still-life. I drew as what I saw. The teacher praised me in the class for insisting on own perspective not just follow others.

For business, I think that you should always insist on you own perspective for the market. Market will never be saturated enough. Try to find your customer, your submarkets and your value-add by using your perspective of the market. Be different is also important. You need to let the customer distinguish your (company/product) very easily with others in the market.
