11/3/2009 [Sharing] 5 Steps to Achieving Behavioral Change![]()
9/14/2009 4 Ways to Keep Your Employees Happy
4 Ways to Keep Your Employees Happy Keeping people happy in their jobs is easier than it seems, especially when you focus on intrinsic rewards like pride in their work, rather than extrinsic rewards like money and stock options. Here are four ways to keep your employees positive: 1. Create meaningful roles. Don't be a stickler for job descriptions. Help your employees find what they like to do best and create roles that allow them to contribute to the bigger picture. 2. Give feedback. Tell your people regularly how they're doing. Avoid generic feedback by being honest and thoughtful. 3. Offer professional development. Ask your people where they want to be in five years and be sure you are helping them get there. 4. Say "thank you". Express your gratitude by thanking them regularly for their contributions. [Andy] It, of course, is not so easy to make your employees happy. However, it is pretty easy to make them "un-happy". These people are creatures of thoughts, emotions and concerns, instead of physical machines.
When I talked with someone about his manager, I was told the manager is a good manager. I asked why. The answer is, OK, he is a nice guy and he smiles at you when talk to you. It is funny. It is a problem of not only the employee, but also the manager. Manager should make his/her people understand what’s a good manager though his/her own actions/words. The risk for the manager is, once the employee realize what a manager should be, he/she will leave the team even with the promised promotions.
AUGUST 28, 2009 Will Businesses Switch to Windows 7? 41% of 1,000 IT

It's the time say congratulations to me for the second time!! :-P One of my photos that took at the BarCampShanghai last week was published on 2006.10.02 issue of 21st Century Business Herald Since it was asked by the pretty reporter - 小玻 - of the newspaper, I provided the photo for free. But next time, it'll be charged! :P Oh. I haven't got time to write something about the BarCamp event. It's a very cool meeting! The most interesting thing of it is it's call "un-conference", which means that there is there is so-called organizer actully, and eveyone is encouraged to lead a session and to be participated. Simply, it's OPEN. BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. This is the first time BarCamp intruduced into China. It gathered around 50 (actually 80 registered) geeks. The topics covered Web 2.0, international business (China and west), web design, art, open source, agile development, and etc. Of course, we got a session on photography. The pity is I am the one Nikon :-S. (damn, it should be more Nikons...). By the way, thanks the T-shirt of ShellShadow. 9/14/2006 BarCampShanghai - Sep. 24, 2006
5/4/2005 CRM + SNS = ???CRM is used by operators and managers to track on the “pre-exist” customers. But sales may not like CRM systems (as it expected to be), since sales do not like to share detailed information about “personal” customers with others. Today, SNS (Social Networking Services, 1 2) is a hot buzzword. SNS is a new way to share the social networking relationships each other. In China, there is a startup (九帮网), which provides such kind of services, and they called it Corporate Relation Capital (CRC). But, personally, I do not think is it not good way on CRM+SNS, because people may not like to share the relationship publicly with some others. And also, I also think that the public and free SNS will be abused. The appropriate way may be add some more features like SNS into CRM system and it just focus on the sales people internally in a company. 4/20/2005 Be connected anywhere, anytime
Several years ago, I have talked with a guy about the future of the business platform/portal. We agree the following features that the platform should have: real-time, collaboration, communication on any devices or any manners (phone, FAX, e-mail, IM, Mobile device, etc). People are connected anywhere and anytime. For example, if a customer call your office phone and you are not available, it may transfer to your mobile phone automatically; if you got a FAX from a partner, then you may get a notification on your mobile phone. If you are in the office, you can collaborate seamlessly with your colleague in a global virtual team (Groove is a good product in this area, which was just acquired by Microsoft). Yeah, it is really a huge dream that can only be achieved by some big firms like Microsoft. 4/11/2005 Blogging SafelyIf you do not want to be fired by your boss, you should be very careful, and do not talk about privacy and confidential information of your employer and yourself. :-] 4/10/2005 BI with "Business Visualization"The New Era of Business Intelligence This emerging market opportunity includes "business visualization" solutions that enable people to see and understand information in new and ever more powerful ways. Some call it Visual BI. Many call it the next wave of innovation since it completely extends Microsoft's platform. Nearly all recognize the opportunity to differentiate and deliver real value by creating cost-effective solutions that help masses of people quickly make accurate, fact-based decisions. "Business Visualization" is not the same with the data visualization in scientific area. We do not just show the data as charts, plots, but we need to show something inside the data (the pattern, the trend, etc). This is the hardest part of "Business Visualization". "Business Visualization" is similar with the GUI design. In GUI design, we should always follow the simple principle: to keep simple and stupid. Yes, if the user can do a job by just one click, why do not you let them click twice or more. The prefect BI product maybe, user can just set the raw data, and the BI application will do all rest jobs and tell the user the state of the business health and the sales in next quarter... Hum... it is not so easy. Isn't it? |
